"Cat, your passion for improving birth using the evidence highlighted by Evidence Based Birth® shines bright from your soul. You teach with and open heart and encourage all working in the birth field to positively and effectively fight for change where they are because everyone can do it (nurses, obstetricians, midwives, nurse managers, doulas, Childbirth educators) And you provide great tools to do so!
As a fellow EBB Instructor, you inspire and support me to keep pushing through to offer all of this EBB knowledge to the communities that I serve. Thank you for being a great leader." - Nubia Jones

Birth Professional Workshops Facilitated by Birth Freely
"If you are considering taking this workshop, JUST DO IT! The comfort measures you learn are so valuable to your patients." - Jessica, RN
Cat LaPlante is an Evidence Based Birth® Instructor. In this capacity, Cat teaches and facilitates workshops for birth professionals four times a year.
The Comfort Measures for Labor and Delivery nurses is offers an array of non-pharmaceutical comfort measures through hands on training and discussion so that you can leave with real tools for your tool kit to help ALL laboring women. These techniques range from positioning, to rebozo work, to hydrotherapy, to acupuncture and more. We not only practice them together but you learn the evidence behind the tool so that you can be confident in applying these techniques in real life the next day! If you are and L&D Nurse, become a champion for your unit by selecting the Super User Ticket. When you attend as a Super User, you go home with a flash drive loaded with curriculum to teach some of the comfort measures you learn in the workshop, an "early labor" curriculum for patients that come into your care early, and a laminated comfort measures pocket guide.
In this episode I am joined by three guests to talk about the Evidence Based Birth Comfort Measures for Labor and Delivery Nurses workshop. Our panel includes registered nurse, childbirth educator and EBB Instructor Jessica Hazboun from San Diego, labor and delivery nurse and childbirth educator Lori Lopez from Honolulu, and Evidence Based Birth Instructor Program Director, childbirth educator and doula Cat LaPlante from the New Jersey/Philadelphia area.
The Comfort Measures workshop is a three hour event with contact hours, covering a range of non-pharmacological techniques including massage, birth balls, CUBs, rebozo, hydrotherapy, and more. In this podcast, we discuss the barriers that nurses face in instructing and assisting patients with comfort during labor, and solutions on how to empower nurses in this area. We also talk about the challenges and rewards of being a change maker in your community.
The Savvy Birth Professionals workshop is for birth professionals who wants to learn the tickets out of the maternity care system to get their clients actual evidence based care.
The change starts with you! You might think "how can I create standing change? Change that will rock the community and make birth better?" The Savvy Birth Professionals workshop answers those questions and more. You might come into the workshop as a new doula, eager to learn. Maybe you're coming in after a traumatic experience; a little broken. Maybe you're a seasoned veteran and slightly jaded? All are welcome and all will learn. When you leave, regardless of how you come in, you will walk out with the tickets to making care for your clients, better.
Refund policy: Tickets are non-refundable, but may be transferred to future workshops or seminars in the case of an unforeseen professional commitment (birth of a client), illness, or family emergency. It is the ticket holders responsibility to contact Cat in the event you need to reschedule.
